“You can #dobetter” offers services in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to children with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. The main drive to create this project is the desire to make behavioural analytic services more accessible to people (parents, teachers and other professionals) without previous experience, and to offer services where access is limited (such as the South West of the UK and in Greece). Our services are person centred and designed to meet the needs of each individual, with the aim of improving each person’s quality of life.
The role of ABA is to assist in solving problems of social significance (in areas such as challenging behaviour, learning processes, psychological problems, performance management etc.) that have an impact on people’s quality of life.

ABA (the practical implementation of behavioural science)

, focuses on the use of interventions that are based on behavioural principles.

We don’t have this label for children to say “I can’t”, we have it for children to say "I CAN"

STEPS IN INTERVENTION DEVELOPING

ASSESSMENT

Gathering information about the child’s life and past experiences from her supporting network, prior to conducting a behavioural assessment.

COOPERATION

Each person-centred plan is created based on the results of the behavioural assessment, with the input of the child’s supporting network.

CONTINUOUS EVALUATION

Regular evaluation of the child’s progress towards her goals, to ensure the goals are being met. If needed goals can also be adjusted.

Behaviour analytic interventions follow a specific process, which starts with a comprehensive assessment of needs. All decisions are data driven and progress made is measurable. We value a multidisciplinary approach where all significant people in the child’s life have input in the target behaviours for improvement. There is extensive research to support the benefits of behavioural interventions in various areas especially Early Intensive Behavioural Interventions (EIBI) has been supported in literature as the most effective form of intervention for children with autism.

Our services are available to parents, teachers and other professionals such as tutors, psychologists, social workers, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists who care for, or support children within the autistic spectrum or with learning disabilities who are exhibiting challenging behaviour. Applied behaviour analysis is not another eclectic approach: it is based on the science of behaviour and focused on the improvement of a variety of areas such as (but not exclusively) eating and sleeping difficulties, self injurious behaviour, physical aggression, ritualistic behaviours.

MEET YIANNA

My name is Yianna Konstantinidou and I'm a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). Having worked for many years in different settings and countries (Greece, UK, USA), supporting children and adults with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour, I decided to create the youcan#dobetter project to offer services in behaviour analysis in the UK and in Greece.
